This animation sequence shows a 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of natural (partial) cavitation over a cylindrical body. Shown in transparent white is a time-varying cavitation bubble shape (associated with a multiphase isosurface that is 90 percent fluid and 10 percent vapor). The surface of the body is colored according to the composition of the local flow (red is liquid, blue is vapor). This CFD simulation was computed on 76 Cray T3E processors by researchers at the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory.
