The arrival of this revolutionary substitute for the vacuum tube on the general commercial market was announced last month. The transistor has been extensively studied by Bell Telephone Laboratories, General Electric and the Radio Corporation of America, all of whom have made refinements in the device. The competitive rush to market it has now begun. One distributor quoted a price of $30 for a transistor."
