In April photojournalist Karin Retief made her fourth trip to the Kunene region to visit the Himba while working on a photographic book on the tribe. Since her first trip in 1997, Retief¿who splits her time between Swakopmund, Namibia, and Cape Town, South Africa¿has developed fond ties with Himba people at Epupa Falls and with an extended Himba family that lives in a sparsely populated area southwest of the falls. Below are her amazing notes on her latest trip, including her observations of how life has changed for the Himba over the past few years.
