Solution to Warm-Up:
During the first year, the islanders build a square, 1 kilometer on each side [see figure in box].
The second year's construction can share a wall and build 1.5 kilometers out from that wall to create a 1 by 1.5 rectangle. The additional area would be 1.5 square kilometers. The Multi-Count scoring would be 1 + (1 + 1.5) = 3.5
