Ultimately, doctors might be able to treat intractable diseases by changing how a person consciously perceives his or her body. “Several spiritual and alternative health groups have been convinced for a long time of the mind-body connection and its two-way-ness. I think this corroborates their conviction,” says University of Oxford physiotherapist and study co-author Lorimer Moseley. But, he adds, “we need experiments galore to see if this is anything more than fancy.”

Add CommentA very good article, to start with. I'm wondering... if this could be used an something like a distraction... akin to a colorful band tied on the hand of a young kid, so that his attention could be diverted there, while the doctor immunizes them. But, could this used in a more drastic condition, like in a major operation, as a substitute for anesthesia?
