Refrigerators are an overlooked item in our kitchens. Ninety-nine percent of Americans have one and they serve an important function, but they tend to be overshadowed by the time-saving virtues of other appliances such as the dishwasher. We’re in the midst of a cultural focus on efficiency, which drives us toward more and more streamlined experiences but often removes facets of personalization. In this context the refrigerator becomes a gallery that showcases the cultures of our households.
