Stellar Family Tree

Japan's infrared telescope AKARI has begun taking images of IC4954/4955 (bright region above), a so-called stellar nursery containing traces of three generations of stars. This composite image of the nebula and surrounding infrared-emitting stars (white dots) spans 150 light-years.
