The space shuttle Endeavour catches a cross-country ride atop a modified NASA 747. Inclement weather at Kennedy Space Center in Florida diverted the shuttle to a landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California at the end of November, a detour that cost NASA a reported $1.8 million. In this photograph, taken last week, Endeavour crosses the Mojave Desert on its way back to Florida.
