Scientific American has partnered with Microsoft to assist with the creation of Brain Power, a website and interactive tool created for users to explore and understand some of the many parts and functions of the human brain.
In order to design and build Brain Power, Microsoft tapped the services and expertise of R2integrated (R2i), a leading Internet marketing and technology firm.
R2i used several technologies to build Brain Power,including HTML5, SVG, CSS3, and Javascript. R2i also assembled an animation layer to the site to produce real-time interactions on elements drawn within the HTML5 canvas. These technologies help to demonstrate the vast capabilities of HTML5, and showcase the power of IE9.
According to R2i, “The HTML5/CSS3 engine within IE9 brings full Rich Interactive Applications into standard practice for all new websites. Proprietary libraries and platforms like Flash/Flex and Silverlight are no longer necessary to produce multimedia driven environments.”
“In short, HTML5 and IE9 introduce end users to new levels of flexibility, capability, and expression.”
