Applicants should hold at a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field including Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering. Individuals with industrial experience, a working knowledge of cell/tissue culture, biomedical imaging, biosignal processing, biomechanics or medical device design and implementation are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability and commitment to teach at the graduate level as well as to mentor students. In addition, the candidate will work with faculty located in both SEAS (School of Engineering and Applied Science) and the Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) to develop a world class teaching program emphasizing interdisciplinary instruction in Biomedical Engineering. The candidate will be expected to pursue funding opportunities for innovative education to enhance the graduate curriculum.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or its professional equivalent. Expertise in design and/or prior industrial experience preferred. Individuals with a working knowledge of medical device design and implementation will be given the greatest consideration. Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to communicate well and a commitment to teach and mentor at the graduate level as well as work with graduate students and faculty to develop a world class instructional program.
