h1. The Position
This position is in the Research Contracts group. The successful candidate will negotiate and draft material transfer agreements, collaboration agreements, sponsored research agreements, academic licenses, laboratory services agreements and various other agreements to meet the scientific and business needs of the Research organization. This position will work closely with the financial and legal departments during the negotiation, review and implementation of the agreements to ensure Genentech's business and legal needs are met. The position will interact directly with Research scientists and other leaders within the company to anticipate future directions and facilitate contractual arrangements to meet the goals and objectives of the organization. The ideal candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
h1. Who You Are
Minimum of BS in scientific, business or legal discipline. Demonstrated contracting and negotiating skills of at least 2 years experience. Ability to work independently as a self-starter, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with scientists, attorneys, contract negotiators, and industry executives both within and outside Genentech. Understanding of basic legal issues, including but not limited to, intellectual property, indemnity, and confidentiality issues. Proficient in MS Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail are required, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated accountability, judgment and leadership skills, and high work ethic are also required.
