Science jobs from Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM):
The Nordic EMBL Partnership is now seeking outstanding international candidates for the positions of
PhD Students in Molecular Medicine
FIMM: Helsinki, Finland > Molecular Medicine & Bioinformatics
Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) is an international research institute focusing on human genomics and personalized medicine. FIMM integrates molecular medicine research and technology center and biobanking infrastructures "under one roof" promoting translational research in grand challenge projects, such as the impact of genome information from the Finnish population in personalized health and medicine, development of individualized cancer medicine, and novel diagnostics via cell and tissue imaging. In the areas of bioinformatics and computational systems biology and biomedicine, FIMM collaborates with Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT (http://www.hiit.fi), an institute focused on basic and applied research on information technology. FIMM and HIIT work together with University of Helsinki and Aalto University doctoral programs to provide excellent research training toward a PhD degree. Applications are currently sought in the areas of 1) molecular medicine and 2) bioinformatics, computational systems biology and biomedicine. Details of the application procedure can be found at http://www.fimm.fi/en/open_positions/.
DANDRITE: Aarhus, Denmark > Translational Neuroscience
As an interdisciplinary research institute at Aarhus University, DANDRITE is part of Danish and international research infrastructures, and focuses on structural, mechanistic, translational and medical aspects of transmembrane communication in health and disease of the nervous system. The research encompasses molecular, cellular and transgenic animal models, and integrates technologies spanning from structural biology to advanced imaging and brain circuitry-penetrating and restorative methodologies. The insight gained from DANDRITE research addresses fundamental questions on the molecular mechanisms underlying brain responses to stimuli, how it forms the conscious mind, and how these mechanisms go wrong in disease.
Applications are sought for doctoral students for the PhD degree programme Molecular Medicine, a mutual interdisciplinary PhD degree program established by graduate schools at the Faculties of Science and Technology and Health.
There are 4 applications rounds each year with calls closing February, May, August, and November. Details of the application procedure can be found at http://dandrite.au.dk/job-opportunities.
MIMS: Umeå, Sweden > Molecular Infection Medicine
MIMS aims to strengthen Swedish research and enhance the dynamic field of molecular medicine by promoting career opportunities for young scientists. MIMS operates within the Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR, http://www.ucmr.umu.se) that includes researchers in the fields of molecular and clinical microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, and physics. MIMS and UCMR are affiliated with the Faculties of Medicine and Science and Technology and are closely connected to the university hospital (Norrlands University Hospital). There are currently no open PhD student positions at MIMS.
NCMM: Oslo, Norway > Molecular Medicine
The overall objective of the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway (NCMM) is to facilitate translation of basic medical research discoveries to clinical practice. NCMM focuses particularly on disease mechanisms where Norway has clear strengths and investigates non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and CNS-related disease and immune disorders. NCMM develops and adapts technologies for personalised medical applications and unravels new diagnostic methods and drug targets.
There are currently no open PhD student positions at NCMM.
Please see the specific call texts at the FIMM (http://www.fimm.fi) and DANDRITE (http://dandrite.au.dk) websites for comprehensive position descriptions and details on the application procedure and deadlines. Applications for all positions should be sent electronically following the instructions given by the institutes' websites.
