The candidate is expected to develop a creative, independent human genetics/computational biology research program and act in a cross-disciplinary capacity to bridge the basic science research departments (including MCB) and the various clinical research groups at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. This individual will be expected to pursue an active research program supported by external funding and publications in the peer-reviewed literature. Research areas must relate to human health (e.g., incorporation of genomics data for personalized medicine, aging, studying the phenotypic consequence of human variation, data mining for identification of functional elements, electronic health records research, and/or developing informatics platforms and or tools for research collaboration or translation). Candidates with experimental programs will be provided with laboratory space and access to modern core facilities. The position requires a commitment to graduate and undergraduate education, and provides an opportunity for participation in pre-doctoral training programs within the University. Candidates with computational research programs would be able to affiliate with Brown's Center for Computational Molecular Biology (CCMB), the Center for Computation and Visualization (CCV), and the NSF Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM).
