Science jobs from University of Montréal:
h1. Four New Principal Investigator positions in Systems and Synthetic Biology at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) - Université de Montréal

The Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the Université de Montréal (UdeM) invites applications for four new Principal Investigator positions in the broad fields of Systems & Synthetic Biology. IRIC and UdeM are committed to developing world class expertise in these interconnected fields. The new Principal Investigators will play a pivotal role in complementing the research strengths of the Institute.

Specifically, outstanding applications are sought in the areas of:

Chemical Biology with an emphasis on bioactive compound identification, novel bioactive chemical spaces, assay development & novel screening methods, small molecule biosensors, chemical-genetics interaction networks, and pharmacogenomics.

Structural Biology with an emphasis on mechanisms of enzymatic activity, structure/function of protein machines, structure/function of intrinsically disordered proteins, mode of action of drugs, and molecular dynamics modeling.

Systems Biology with an emphasis on the characterization and manipulation of complex biological systems at the molecular level, integrative analysis of genome-scale datasets, mechanisms of biological information processing, and mathematical modeling of biological networks.

Synthetic Biology with an emphasis on genome-scale synthesis and genome engineering, design and applications of novel genetic & protein networks, metabolic engineering, synthetic biosensors, and directed molecular evolution.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, and have a strong publication record. Candidates will be expected to develop an innovative, internationally recognized, externally funded research program. Although priority is given to research activities, candidates will also contribute to teaching and to internal committees. IRIC - UdeM offers competitive salary and recruitment packages commensurate with experience and qualifications, a research intensive environment, state-of-the art facilities and competitive graduate training programs. New Principal Investigators will be cross-appointed in a Department of the Faculty of Medicine or the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of UdeM. Selected candidates may be eligible for a Canada Research Chair (http://www.chairs-chaires.gc.ca/ ).

Applicants should submit a CV, a statement of research interests including future plans, and three letters of reference via the http://academicjobsonline.org website (ID#: 4055) prior to August 31st, 2014.
