The institute of Systems and Synthetic Biology (iSSB) has an immediate opening to develop Computer-Aided Design tools for metabolic engineering applications. The institute is part of Genopole, a consortium of leading research academic and private laboratories in genomics, post-genomics and related sciences. The job location is in Evry, 35 km south of Paris, 30 min by suburban train. Job Description: The position awardee (1 year renewable) will joint iSSB's Bio-RetroSynth team and will be responsible for developing software based on in-house chemical fingerprints and kernel methods to design novel metabolic pathways. Biol. 2013, PMID: 24131345, as well as at Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a recent Ph.D. in computational biology, computational chemistry or computer science. Essential qualifications include background knowledge in machine learning applied to bioinformatics and/or cheminformatics and excellent programming skills in languages such as C++, Java, Perl, Python, PHP, as well as scientific software (R or Matlab). Experience with software project development, familiarity with relational databases, strong collaborative skills and ability to work and communicate in a team environment is also required.
