The Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) invites applications for a

Microscopy and Imaging Service Group Leader

The successful applicant will lead a microscopy and imaging service group that supports the work of up to 20 MPIPZ research groups. The current service includes confocal, electron and light microscopy. He/she will be responsible for continuously updating the facilities to ensure that the unit continues to support the requirements of research groups and when necessary will establish new methodologies. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to train young scientists in using microscopes, to maintain the facilities and to provide leadership to the current staff of the unit that comprises a technician and one post-doctoral scientist.

Applicants should have experience in applying microscopy or imaging in the context of biological research. The successful applicant will have a PhD and post-doctoral experience. The position is initially for 3 years with a possibility of renewal for a further 2 years and will be at an appropriate level on the TVÖD scale depending on experience.
