The primary research focus will be investigation on how the DNA damage response, such as genotoxic stress-induced protein-coding gene and miRNA transcription via activating transcription factors and epigenetic chromatin modifications, regulates the therapeutic response of cancer (_EMBO J_ 32:3206-19, 2013; _EMBO J_ 30: 3741-53, 2011; _Mol Cell_ 40: 75-86, 2010). We are using both in vitro cell culture systems and in vivo mouse models to delineate various signaling networks and their pathological outcomes in cancer progression and therapeutic response. The approaches used in the lab range widely and include molecular and cell biology techniques, protein biochemistry, genetic-modified and disease animal models as well as bioinformatics analysis.
