Our work matters. There has never been a better time to join Syngenta! Responsibilities: We are currently looking for a Head of Traits and Genetics. In this role you will be managing the Traits & Genetics function and taking overall accountability for Genetics Projects, Trait Projects, Resistance Project delivery, leading the adoption of new traits and genetics technologies in support of breeding of Cereals. You will be also connecting the Cereals Traits & Genetics teams to Syngenta Biotechnology, Quantitative Genetics, Enabling Pathology/Entomology, and cross-crop trait projects in order to align the Cereals R&D strategy and its supporting project portfolio teams to the Syngenta R&D strategy and fully exploit the potential of Syngenta cross-crop technology platforms to the benefit of Cereals. In addition you will be evaluating, activating, and supervising external collaborations in the area of traits and genetics for Cereals R&D, co-leading with the Heads of Breeding (Cereal Seeds R&D) the development of crop R&D strategies and their deployment in R&D portfolios in order to meet Cereals business objectives. Please be informed that the vacancy can be located either in USA or France Requirements: - Expert knowledge in Plant Breeding and Genetics (PhD and 5-10 year experience required) - Proven knowledge of development of products via deployment of advanced technologies in the areas of molecular markers, phenotyping, germplasm management, and breeding techniques.. - Knowledge of strategy development and deployment via portfolios, people, and assets - Visionary, futuristic thinking with the ability to understand (a) business needs, (b) available and/or necessary financial and technical resources, and (c) cross-crop, cross-function, and cross-business opportunities for accelerated delivery of new products to the market place - Demonstrated ability to work across teams, organizations, and leadership levels in order to develop and execute complex management and/or technical projects - Ability to build and convey professional credibility for themselves and the R&D team as a whole, and to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders with varying perspectives and levels of technical understanding. - National/International Travel Required Syngenta is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
