Specific Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated individual with expertise in virology, cell biology, and molecular biology to join our HIV Clinical Virology group. The selected candidate will function as a team member focused on the development of HIV therapeutics, and will support the management of resistance development to anti-HIV agents in vitro and in clinical studies.

This position will involve support and evaluation of established or novel therapeutic agents, and will rely on molecular biology, cell biology and virology techniques. The candidate should be goal oriented, self-motivated and capable of executing assigned tasks with little supervision to help meet deliverables.

Laboratory responsibilities will include designing and performing independent experiments, such as: - Characterize the in vitro resistance profile of HIV drugs - Assist in mechanism of action studies for HIV drugs - Design and execute experiments to monitor the emergence of resistance in patient samples - Develop and validate novel HIV drug resistance assays - Maintain familiarity with scientific literature and applies appropriately to projects Essential Duties and Job Functions: The candidate must think critically and creatively, work independently, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems to achieve results. The candidate should organize experimental details and be proficient in both data management and the preparation of summary reports. Excellent organizational and data management skills are expected, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate should be able to present clear and concise data summaries in group and team meetings

Knowledge, Experience and Skills: - BS or MS in biological sciences - 6+ years of working experience required; biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred - Prior hands-on experience with virology, mammalian tissue culture, molecular biology techniques, and data processing are essential; previous experience with HIV techniques preferred but not essential - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required - Well organized, with attention to details, excellent oral and written communication skills - Well-developed interpersonal skills with a proven ability to participate in highly effective teams - Self-motivated, independent and able to work in a high-paced collaborative environment
