In a strategic effort to enhance addiction research and care, the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (Lovell FHCC) in North Chicago, IL is inviting applications for a new position in addiction research and treatment. The successful candidate should preferably have an MD/PhD degree or an MD degree with 3-5 years of postdoctoral research experience and must have superior psychiatric evaluation and management skills as well as academic credentials. The candidate must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Psychiatry and trained or experienced in addiction psychiatry. A history of extramurally-funded research in mechanisms of addiction/addiction psychiatry is preferred. US Citizenship is required.

Lovell FHCC is the main affiliate of the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/The Chicago Medical School undergraduate and post-graduate training programs in psychiatry. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to collaborate and work closely with internationally known basic scientists from RFUMS working on drug addiction and related fields.

Lovell FHCC is a unique new facility, created by congressional legislation, combining a VA Medical Center and a Navy Health Clinic. It provides integrated care to Veterans, Active Duty Military members, Navy Recruits, Military retirees and their families. Our Mental Health Department has both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse programs. We offer a competitive salary and excellent federal government benefits. Lovell FHCC is located in scenic Lake County, IL, approximately 35 miles north of Chicago, with easy access to diverse residential, cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as outstanding school districts.
