Scientific programmer position at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory invites applications for a scientific programmer position in the laboratory of Jesse Gillis. The focus of the lab is on using gene networks to explore the functional connection between neuropsychiatric disease candidates. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists in the lab to improving the accessibility of our pre-existing computational research products. This will entail streamlining pre-existing code for more general use as well as independent web application development.

Position Requirements:

An undergraduate degree with an emphasis in computer programming or strong evidence of equivalent experience is required. The ideal candidate would have some experience with scientific programming specifically, as well as a background in web application development. High competence in the candidate's language-of-choice and an ability to assimilate new ideas are far more important than pre-existing familiarity with any particular language. The work products are mostly fairly self-contained with considerable freedom for exact implementation. An interest in the visual display of information would be helpful.
