A postdoctoral position is available to study prion diseases using primary neural cultures, biochemistry techniques, and mouse models. We are investigating how the biochemical properties of prion strains impact prion spread to the brain as well as the molecular basis for prion species barriers. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or MD or DVM, research experience in molecular biology and biochemistry, and a strong interest in neurological and protein misfolding diseases. Projects include protein aggregation and neuronal culture experiments as well as the biochemical investigation of prion strains.
