The Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher - cryo-Electron Microscopy to carry out structural analysis of the Type IV Secretion System by cryo-electron microscopy. This structural study is led by Professor Elena Orlova and Professor Gabriel Waksman, The collaboration of these two groups has produced high profile publications in the highest impact journals (Science, 2009, 323:266-268; Nature, 2009, 462:1011-1015; PNAS, 2012, 474:49-53; Nature. 2014, 508:550-3). The research programme is funded by a grant from the Medical Research Council to Profs E. Orlova and G. Waksman. Applicants should have a PhD in Structural Molecular Biology, experience in Electron Microscopy, and Image Processing, Biophysics or related areas.

Further Information Salary: Grade 7 starting salary range £35,343 - £37,299 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. The initial salary award will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
This post is full time and fixed term contract for up to 20 months. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of six months. Birkbeck provides 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements and other great benefits.
