A postdoctoral research position at Hannover Medical School (HMS), Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Critical Care, is available to study the molecular mechanisms of pulmonary vascular disease and right heart failure, and related translational therapeutic interventions, including pharmacological, miR/anti-miR, and cellular approaches (mesenchymal stem cells and progenitor cells).

Requirements: Candidates should be highly motivated and focused, must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree in cell/molecular biology or related field, have approx. 3 years of postdoctoral research experience, and sufficient English language skills.

Qualifications: Experience and expertise in mammalian cell culture (e.g., proliferation/apoptosis), Western blotting, and molecular biology techniques (including platform/ChIP-Chip assays, qPCR, cloning, lentiviral transduction/shRNAi in mammalian cells), as well as basics in rodent models, breeding, genotyping and maintaining mouse colonies, is required. Experience with human genomic DNA and MSC isolation, miR profiling, isolation and culture of SMCs, cardiomyocytes, endothelial and/or alveolar type II cells, in addition to immunohistochemistry and histological lung tissue analysis, is desired.
