Site license access to Scientific American available on nature.com


Scientific American, the leading science magazine, is now available on nature.com for institutional customers at www.nature.com/scientificamerican. Site license access on nature.com includes access to Scientific American, Scientific American Mind, and special issues. Nature.com is Nature Publishing Group’s (NPG’s) award-winning website, and platform for its publication and services.

Site license access to Scientific American on nature.com provides customers all the functionality and services they would expect from NPG. This includes full-text HTML articles with images, not previously available to institutional customers. Each month, the latest issue(s) in both full-text HTML and PDF formats will be added. Advanced search and saved search functionality, table of contents e-alerts, commenting, and reference linking, are all now available. NPG is encouraging all customers with an existing institutional subscription to Scientific American to activate complimentary access to nature.com in parallel.

Customers will enjoy all the benefits of NPG’s support for institutional customers, including one administration account, COUNTER-compliant usage statistics, post-cancellation rights, and remote access authentication.

Site license access to Scientific American provides institutions with unlimited, concurrent access for users. Access to four years of archived content is included during the license period, and back issues are currently being added to nature.com. By the end of 2009, an archive of 2005-2009 content will be available to purchase as full-text HTML, together with a PDF archive of issues going back to 1993.  In early 2010, PDF content back to 1948 will also be available to be purchased separately. Access back to 1993 will be included at no additional charge for renewing customers or new customers who subscribe by March 31, 2010.

Scientific American site license access will continue to be available from EBSCO until 31 May 2010. EBSCO and NPG are working together to help customers with the transition. A plain text version of Scientific American will remain available on EBSCOHost.
