The latest issue of Scientific American MIND looks a bit unusual. For the first time in the publication’s 10-year history the cover features a nonhuman model: a smiling border collie named Ten.
As the video shows, photographer Aaron Goodman photographed Ten in his studio in February under the watchful eyes of his trainer as well as MIND’s new managing editor Claudia Wallis and art director Patti Nemoto—both dog owners. “What a delightful way for me to kick off my very first week at MIND,” says Wallis, who had previously served as TIME magazine’s science editor. The well-mannered and impeccably groomed pooch was a perfect ambassador for the May/June issue, which features a package of articles exploring the bond between pets and people with a special look at our relationship with dogs.
