General Rate Policy

The publisher will not be bound by any conditions, printed or otherwise, appearing on copy instructions or insertion order when such conditions conflict with our guidelines.

The publisher reserves the right to reject any advertisement or copy that the publisher for any reason in his sole discretion deems unsuitable for publication in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN or on ScientificAmerican.com.

All advertisements are accepted and published on the representation by the advertiser and/or its agency that they are authorized to publish the entire contents thereof and that to the best of their knowledge and belief all the statements made therein are true. The advertiser and the agency agree to hold the publisher harmless from any and all claims or suits arising out of advertising published.

Print order cancellations are not accepted after closing dates (see Advertising Closing Dates). Requested positions will be considered, but cannot be assured.

Payment/Commission Terms and Conditions

Terms of sale. Cash-with-order unless credit has been established.

For Print advertising, bills rendered on 20th day of the month preceding issue date. Payment terms: net 30. For Digital advertising, bills are payable 30 days from campaign launch date.

Advertiser and agency placing order are jointly and severally liable for payment. Terms and conditions final at closing date.

Agency commission (to recognized agents): 15%.
