
Haitian Cholera Outbreak Highlights Need for Infrastructure, Not Blame
A cholera epidemic has infected more than 700,000 people and killed over 8,000 in Haiti over the last few years, a country of just over 10 million people.
Anthony Robbins, MD, MPA is Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and co-editor of Journal of Public Health Policy. Dr. Robbins directed the state health departments of Vermont and Colorado, the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (as an Assistant Surgeon General in the U.S. Public Health Service), and the National Vaccine Program. He also edited the scientific journal of the U.S. Public Health Service, Public Health Reports. He worked for the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives as the Professional Staff Member for Health. He is a past president of the American Public Health Association.
