Dr. David Pisetsky is Professor of Medicine and Immunology at the Duke University Medical Center. For over 30 years, Dr. Pisetsky has been an active investigator in the field of autoimmunity, focusing on the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the immunological properties of nuclear macromolecules. He has published over 300 articles and chapters. From 2000-2005, he served as Editor of Arthritis and Rheumatism and was the first Physician Editor of The Rheumatologist from 2006-2011. His essays and narratives on science and medicine have appeared widely in journals such as JAMA and Annals of Internal Medicine. In 2010, he received the Bronze Award from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors for his editorials in The Rheumatologist.
