A relatively new and still controversial theory suggests the disease could be triggered by pathogens
Dhruva (Drew) Gupta is a junior at Yale studying neurobiology. Having researched Alzheimer's disease at Harvard and Yale medical schools, his experiences range from exploring the amyloid hypothesis to applications of gene therapy. Under the supervision of Se Hoon Choi and Rudolph Tanzi of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit at Harvard, he is evaluating the effects of breakdown of the blood-brain barrier due to Alzheimer's disease. He currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the Yale Journal of Medicine and Law and the founding editor of the Yale Journal of Human Rights. Drew also serves on the governing board of a non-profit known as Dose of Justice, which he started in 2016 dedicated to fighting youth stigma in the opioid epidemic.
