Evert van de Vliert is an emeritus professor at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. His current research focuses on the worldwide impact of climatic and economic characteristics of places of residence on cultural and individual variation in human needs, stresses, values, beliefs and practices. He has published widely on these topics in various scientific journals and authored a book entitled Climate, Affluence, and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2008).
