Heather Major is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of New Brunswick (Saint John). She has a PhD from Simon Fraser University and an MSc from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her research, that has taken her to some of North America's most remote places (including the Aleutian Islands, Northwest Hawaiian Islands, and the Canadian North), focuses on the drivers of population change in seabirds. She currently leads the research on Machias Seal Island in the Bay of Fundy/Gulf of Maine, giving her the ability to spend time both in the field and at home with her two adventurous daughters.
