
How Work-Family Justice Can Bring Balance to Scientist Moms
It’s time to change cultural views and expectations around science and motherhood
Holly Jones is an associate professor at Northern Illinois University. She has a BSc in Ecology and Evolution and Marine Biology from University of California Santa Cruz and a PhD in Ecology from Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her research centers on restoration ecology, specifically how biodiversity and ecosystems recover from disturbances and how we can best restore them. She works on islands globally, primarily in New Zealand, and also studies prairie restoration in Illinois. She defended her dissertation at six months pregnant and had her second daughter as a tenure-track faculty member. She co-curates a blog about women and non-binary peoples' unique experiences in the field.
