Evolution isn't easy, even in Galapagos
Dr Karen James is a visiting staff scientist at Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in Maine, where she works to engage visitors to Acadia National Park in building a library of DNA sequences for the park's plant and animal species ('DNA barcoding'). Formerly a postdoc at the Natural History Museum in London, she is also co-founder and director of The HMS Beagle Project, a UK charity that aims to rebuild HMS Beagle and retrace the Voyage of the Beagle.
