Richard Middleton is a research scientist and manager in the Computational Earth Science group at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He studies carbon capture and storage, geothermal energy, shale gas, and the energy-water nexus and analyzes emerging technologies to reduce CO2 emissions through integrated CO2 capture and storage, including case studies in south Texas and Utah. Middleton led the team developing SimCCS technology, which won a prestigious 2019 R&D 100 Award.
