Thimmayya, a Jenu Kuruba tribesman who lives in the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve is leading the way. Following him is Killivalavan Rayar, a senior research associate working with WCS India Program.
Dr. Varun R. Goswami is a Senior Research Fellow with the WCS India Program. His research in the field of applied ecology informs the conservation of endangered and conflict-prone species in heterogeneous, human-dominated landscapes. He has studied elephants over the last decade and leads WCS's elephant program in India.
Dr. N. Samba Kumar has been working for wildlife since the late 1980s, beginning with a stint as a citizen scientist with WCS India Program. Inspired by the cause, he pursued further education in wildlife and is currently the Additional Director - Science and Conservation for WCS India Program, coordinating all wildlife research and training activities.
