Don Herbert died this week. For a couple of generations of Americans he was TV’s Mr. Wizard, doing simple science experiments that kids could understand. Here’s a clip of Herbert and a student. He’s putting a flame to fake money that’s wrapped around a metal bar. But the money won’t burn. (Audio clip of Mr. Wizard.) A National Science Foundation Official once said of Herbert, "Over the years, Don has been personally responsible for more people going into the sciences than any other single person in this country.” Don Herbert was 89.
