Expert Guide: Andrea Thompson

Andrea Thompson is a senior news editor at Scientific American covering the environment, earth science and energy. Andrea’s first eclipse was 2017’s total eclipse over the US, which she watched from Nashville and immediately wanted to experience again. She viewed the 2024 eclipse as a partial event from her home in New York City and is excited to combine her third eclipse experience with exploring Iceland’s active geology up close.
