The first railroad in Turkey has been commenced under somewhat favorable auspices. It is to run from the port of Smyrna to the interior, a distance of 70 about miles, and will open up a rich portion of Asia Minor to direct communication with the sea trade. The engineers are English, but the stockholders aro Turks ; and the government has taken a lively interest in this innovation of the rail over the camel train in the land of the Moslem.
