Now that you've heard George W. Bush and Al Gore have it out in the first national debate, you can tune in for their thoughts on science and technology today at Science online. Since the 1988 election, the editorial staff at the journal has sent nominees a questionnaire, and the results from this campaign are just in. They will be published at www.sciencemag.org today and in the October 13th print issue. The answers touch on topics ranging from genetically modified crops, affirmative action in science and drug pricing to defense research and development, education reform and security at national laboratories. Also today, after 2 p.m., you can check out the transcript of a forum sponsored by the Washington Science Policy Alliance, at which aides for both nominees will discuss their bosses' plans for science and technology.
