A steep ramp adjoined one side of the Propylaia. Looking up the ramp from the direction of the Agora, this side of the Propylaia is designed to resemble a classic Doric-style temple facade (top). But from within, it seems to have functioned as a Stoa, a covered public gathering place with rows of Ionic columns (bottom).
