Each year the Olympus BioScapes International Digital Imaging Competition attracts submissions from some of the world's best artists of the microscopic world—both professionals and serious hobbyists. We picked some of our favorites to include in the December 2010 issue of Scientific American, but it was tough to choose among the hundreds of stunning candidates. So here we share online some of those that did not make it in print.
