The new Fire Alarm System in Boston does not work well at all. The Secretary of the ioard of Engineers sent a communication to the Common Council that it is an entire failure, or " a miserable failure," as one of the members termed it. The communication was referred to the Committee on the Fire Department. The system will no doubt be abandoned at once. I Lowell Courier. [This is bad news ; we are not prepared to say a word in comment, as it is a question of fact.
