Winner of the 2022 Catalyst for Equity Award — Center for Health Outcomes and Population Equity

The Center for Health Outcomes and Population Equity (HOPE) at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah connects scientists and community organizations across the Mountain West (Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming), including healthcare, government, education, and nonprofits. Its aim is to create long-term solutions that prevent cancer and improve health among historically marginalized populations. Projects include tobacco cessation, colorectal cancer screening, HPV vaccination, lifestyle changes such as physical activity and diet, COVID-19, and opioid use. As a long-term goal, the Center for HOPE envisions a Mountain West with equity in cancer incidence, morbidity, and mortality.
