Winner of the 2022 Catalyst for Precision Medicine Award — Marc R. Mantrana
A ninth-generation native of New Orleans, Marc Matrana created the city’s Ochsner Precision Cancer Therapies Program. At Ochsner Health, he practices oncology and leads the cancer phase 1 clinical trials program and system-wide efforts to integrate precision medicine across all specialities. He also advocates for legislative changes through his position as a trustee and co-chair of the scientific advisory board at the Cancer Advocacy Group of Louisiana. His work contributed to the passage of laws that ensure Louisiana cancer patients have access to cutting-edge molecular diagnostics and therapies. Those include next-generation sequencing and pharmacogenomics, all of which could improve patient outcomes.
