Winner of the 2022 Catalyst for Change Award — Charles R. Rogers

After his aunt was diagnosed with stage-4 colorectal cancer in 2009, Charles R. Rogers devoted his life to spreading the word about getting screened for this preventable cancer, which also has a high rate of survival when diagnosed at an early stage. He has spent more than a decade of research on translational solutions to reduce colorectal cancer disparities among African-American men and other socially vulnerable populations. Rogers continues to educate people about colorectal cancer anywhere he can—whether it’s at the Medical College of Wisconsin to his co-workers or at the barbershop to community members when he’s getting a haircut.
