Winner of the 2022 President’s Award — Douglas Fair
In 2016, Douglas Fair joined the division of pediatric hematology and oncology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah where part of his work involves preserving fertility in reproductive-age cancer patients who may want to have children. He has counseled hundreds of patients and educated countless providers throughout the Mountain West. In doing so, he helped expand insurance coverage for fertility preservation and enact related legislation in Utah. So far, Fair has built a team of fertility-preservation specialists, and has elevated the academic understanding of how fertility is affected by cancer therapy. His work is recognized nationally and is being modeled in other regions of the country.
